The Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) has joined the General Directorate of Gambling Regulation (DGOJ) as the latest partner of the Global Betting Market Research Service.
According to the Spanish tennis governing body, the added information sharing capabilities that the service offers will allow it to better safeguard the sport from suspicious activity.
The partnership allows RFET and DGOJ to act more swiftly when it comes to monitoring competitive sports by “coordinating efforts to fight against manipulation and spots”.
Spain’s efforts to eradicate match-fixing from its national sports landscape has seen several developments in recent weeks mainly driven by DGOJ strengthening its partnership portfolio.
In January, the regulator welcomed the Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) to assist it with the analysis of in-depth data flows related to suspicious activity in football events.
Later on, Spain’s Euskadi region joined the frontlines against sports manipulation by receiving access to DGOJ’s Global Research Service. This also unlocked more crime fighting power for DGOJ, as the watchdog can now fully cooperate with the region’s autonomous regional police force and its specialised Gaming and Entertainment Unit.
The Global Research Service is compliant under Law 13/2011 of the regulation of gaming, which aims to strengthen the fight against fraud in the sports betting market and prevent the manipulation of betting competitions.
