Betway the flagship global sportsbook property of Super Group, has launched its online gambling platform for the regulated market of Bulgaria, hosted under the domain of Betway.bg
On Monday, Betway announced the launch of Betway.bg to Bulgarian media and its affiliate marketing partners.
Betway’s market licence has been granted by the National Revenue Agency (NRA) which is tasked with monitoring gambling activities (online and land-based) reporting to Bulgaria’s Ministry of Finance.
The launch sees Bulgaria become Betway’s twelfth regulated European jurisdiction, in which the group accounts for B2C licences in the UK, Malta, Italy, France, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Spain, Belgium, Sweden and Portugal.
Last year, Betway announced its plans to expand within regulated Eastern European markets, having been granted an online gambling licence by Poland’s Ministry of Finance.
The betting group has yet to launch its Polish offering, as 2021 proceedings saw parent company Super Group accept terms on a SPAC merger with US SPAC partner Sports Entertainment Acquisition Corp (SEAH).
This January, Super Group finalised its merger with SEAH, a transaction that saw the company list on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) achieving its target valuation of +$4.7 billion.
Providing a prospectus to NYSE investors, Super Group underlined the proven credentials of Betway as the sportsbook operator with the fastest record in becoming earnings effective across regulated markets.
2021 Bulgarian market developments saw the Ministry of Finance, update provisions of Bulgaria’s Gambling Act to ensure that the licensing of online gambling operators was compliant with European Economic Area (EEA) business laws.
