William Hill have ceased igaming operations targeting the Chinese Market as of today (August 19th). The gaming operator cited Chinese national regulations as the main reason for withdrawing its operations from the region. William Hill will no longer be taking any wagers from Chinese credit or banking accounts on any of its digital platforms.
The operators decision will also affect players in regions such a Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan, as William Hill will stop all transactions within the region of China. Players in the affected region have been given a window to enter and withdraw moneys from their active accounts. William Hill will process all transactions in the region in order to comply with local government laws.
In a press statement to its regional partners media and affiliate websites William Hill announced the following:- “William Hill will be suspending all accounts of all residents of China from midday Monday 19th August, 2013. After this date, bettors will not be able to use their accounts to access our online sportsbook or gaming rooms”
