Sportradar has launched a multi-year partnership with Major League Baseball (MLB) that will unlock new baseball prospect scouting opportunities.
Available to the league’s 30 clubs, Sportradar will supply MLB with its Synergy Coaching and Scouting solution which boasts player analysis and event monitoring technology that could increase the scope of coverage from 3,300 games to more than 20,000.
This represents a 600% boost, covering all ranges of baseball matches from college to international, professional partner leagues, and leading amateur tournaments such as the MLB Draft League, the Appalachian League and MLB Develops events, and, for the first time – top high school events.
John D’Angelo, MLB’s Sr. Vice President of Amateur and Medical Operations, commented: “We are excited to expand our relationship with Sportradar and ensure equal access to the Synergy video and data services for all 30 MLB Clubs.
“This platform has become a key resource for Clubs in the domestic and international scouting process and we look forward to continuing our work with Sportradar in the coming years.”
Sportradar’s proprietary Synergy Coaching and Scouting solution combines the firm’s expertise in data points processing and translates it into dynamic visualisations. It also uses AI-powered sports performance tech to offer in-depth analysis for each player and every move they make, helping the MLB find the future of its professional squads.
Eduard Blonk, Chief Commercial Officer, Sportradar, added: “Sportradar’s cutting-edge technology, alongside our reputation as a trusted partner to leading US sports leagues, is driving the transformation of sports performance analysis.
“Through Synergy we are pleased that we are expanding our relationship with MLB, equipping them with the deep data and insights they need to identify the next generation of players. We are eager to continue bringing innovative solutions to MLB.”
