Brazil’s National Council for Advertising Self-Regulation (CONAR) has issued a warning to three different operators over their promotions in the country.
As reported by SBC Noticias, the betting operators named are Esportes da Sorte, Estrela Bet and MrJack.bet.
From top to bottom, Esportes da Sorte claims to be the “biggest entertainment site in Brazil”, with the company’s Instagram following currently consisting of around 2.4 million people.
CONAR has concluded that some of the ads the company uses for promotion are inappropriate due to conveying “the idea of profit”. The specific messaging in question reads “Esportes da Sorte – increase your additional income” and “Esportes da Sorte is much more than betting”.
Esportes da Sorte has issued a comment where it states that no formal complaint has been received by CONAR, but all necessary measures have been taken to take down the ads from the public domain, and that it is ready to “comply with all applicable requirements”.
The case rings similar when it comes to the second operator, Estrela Bet, with the firm confirming that there’s no official complaint received yet from CONAR.
However, the Ethics Council of CONAR itself voted unanimously in favour of putting forward a request to Estrela Bet to take down an ad that read “Estrela Bet – Meet the Aviator in Estrela Bet. Fun, fast and easy profits”.
After the request was made, Estrela Bet published a statement saying that it remains committed to “transparency and compliance with current regulatory standards”.
Finally, MrJack.bet was also contacted by CONAR to change the wording in one of its advertisements for the game Mines, which read “Play and win with Mines” – a statement that may be interpreted as winning is guaranteed.
In a statement, the operator said: “[We at] Mr.Jack reaffirm that [we] continue with [our] purpose of acting to comply with all Brazilian rules and laws.”
As a side note, requests made by CONAR such as the ones issued to the three operators are not mandatory, however companies in Brazil usually comply with the conditions to avoid further complications.
