An intensified regulatory environment was one of, if not the, major takeaway from the past year, and is certainly set to rage for some time to come.
As the pressure to deliver escalates, the challenges faced by development studios are reaching ever greater heights. Especially for those whose reach spans numerous geographies, and the legislative differences that accompany such a reach.
However, despite having to navigate such a difficult battleground, PopOK Gaming confidently stresses that 2025 not only met but exceeded internal expectations across several areas.
Head of Partner Management, Tsovinar Elchyan, says this primarily centred around an ambition of growing in a structured and sustainable way, with a particularly strong focus placed on regulated markets, product quality, and long-term partnerships.
“We successfully entered key regulated jurisdictions, most notably Brazil, expanded our product portfolio across slots and crash games, and strengthened our brand presence both online and in land-based gaming.
“Receiving Brazilian market certification early in the year was a major milestone”
“Importantly, we achieved this without compromising on quality or speed to market, which was a key objective for us at the start of the year.”
As is customary across any calendar year, a number of talking points form the foundation of many conversations and truly capture the industry’s attention and/or imagination.
In addition to the aforementioned regulatory landscape, AI and Brazil became mainstays of 2025, with the latter hailed as one of “several key moments” that defined success for the studio.
Amid a frantic scramble to enter a jurisdiction whose riches had long been eyed by many, PopOk Gaming set about carving its own path for success.
This, iGaming Expert previously learned, centered around truly tapping into the cultural themes that define the country and its people, built upon the vast experience that it had already gained within the country.
“Receiving Brazilian market certification early in the year was a major milestone and opened the door to one of the most dynamic regulated markets globally,” she notes.
“…players responded strongly to fast-paced mechanics, bold visuals, and rewarding features”
Reflecting further on the key moments that defined PopOK’s year, Elchyan elaborates: “Another important moment was the launch and strong performance of our series of slots, which are known as Rico Family, and of course, our Crash game Avi, which quickly became one of our top-performing titles.
“Our announcement of land-based slot solutions at ICE Barcelona also marked a strategic expansion beyond digital. Finally, the industry recognition we received through multiple awards and shortlists confirmed that our strategy and execution were on the right track.”
With products placed front and centre, attention switches to the newly introduced standout titles that defined the supplier’s roadmap during recent times.
The undoubted top performer in the slots suite, Elchyan says, was the aforementioned Rico series, which is hailed as delivering strong engagement due to recognisable branding, balanced math models, and broad player appeal.
Elsewhere, Avi, Fortune Crash, Crash Infinity and Crash Poki witnessed particularly strong performances within the highly competitive and saturated crash segment.
“These games performed particularly well in Brazil and across LatAm, where players responded strongly to fast-paced mechanics, bold visuals, and rewarding features,” she comments.
“One of the main challenges in 2025 was adapting to rapidly evolving regulatory requirements”
“Titles like Yo Dragon, Rico Gorila, Fortune Panda also achieved strong visibility and recognition in the Brazilian market.”
Encountering a range of headwinds is inescapable within any climate. However, any potential future success hinges on how these are confronted and eventually overcome.
Upon assessing the major challenges that were encountered by both themselves and the wider industry during 2025, the conversation closes by going full circle.
“One of the main challenges in 2025 was adapting to rapidly evolving regulatory requirements, especially in newly regulated or transitioning markets,” Elchyan concludes.
“Competition also intensified, particularly in popular segments like Crash games. We addressed these challenges by investing early in compliance, building flexible game frameworks, and focusing on product differentiation.
“Strong communication with partners and faster internal processes also helped us stay agile in a fast-changing market environment.”
