KSA takes aim at YouTube influencers  over unlicensed gambling ad

The Netherlands’ Gambling Authority, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), has taken down a YouTube video in relation to its alleged inclusion of an  illegal gambling advertisement.

Two Dutch influencers – who were the producers of the video – were promoting an illegal website which at one point they themselves indicated were using, completely going against KSA regulations.

In their initial attempt to become compliant, the influencers blurred out the images of the gambling site’s promotion in their video. However, the audio where they positively discussed the website in question was still there.

A second warning by the KSA then followed, demanding for the influencer duo to take the video down from YouTube,, to which they complied. If the same infringement happens again, the regulator can follow up with a financial punishment.

The clamp down against illegal offerings and their promotion has become increasingly stringent over the last few months, with the most recent example of this being the KSA ordering Formula One to remove all Stake.com branding ahead of the Dutch F1 Grand Prix.

A reminder was also issued to all media websites that even the inadvertent promotion of unlicensed offers could lead to sanction, and that it is the media company which is responsible for ensuring that the gambling offer it is advertising is allowed to be on the Dutch market.
