bet365 was the leading destination for tipsters on the opening weekend of the 2015/2016 Bundesliga Championship, according to European sports tipping portal bettingexpert.com.
A hard fought opening weekend of Bundesliga action by online bookmakers saw bet365 (12.9%) edge Unibet (12.2%) as most active bookmaker for bettingexpert’s tipsters (see table below).
Giving insight into betting market value and player engagement, bettingepxert revealed that its users posted a record total of 778 tips on Bundesliga matches during match-day 1, with a remarkable 48.3% of users striking successful tips.
With average odds of 3.50, much higher than regular Bundesliga market indexes, the bettingexpert team declared it the best overall customer value for a German football opening weekend.
The most popular bet type was over/under outcomes gaining 30% of all network tips, followed by three way bets (25%) and Asian handicap (17%).
As expected, Bayern Munich proved to be the most backed team at 1×2 market odds, ahead of Bayer Leverkusen and Mainz 05.
Bayern’s 5-0 thumping of Hamburg SV would prove to be the network’s most profitable match. Whilst heavily backed Mainz 05 recorded the weekend’s biggest loss, as the Rhineland side lost to newly promoted FC Ingolstadt
Noting an interesting insight from the weekend matches, bettingexpert detailed that the most profitable bet type of the weekend was over 3.5 goals in the match between Bayern Munich and Hamburger SV at odds of around 1.90, which saw plenty of high wagers placed on the market.
Bettingexpert’s Gavin Moore commented: “Over/under betting was a very clever choice of bet type amongst our users this weekend; especially betting over 2.5 goals. This was a particularly good choice as we saw 26 goals in 9 matches, averaging a goal score of 3.25 in the first round of the Bundesliga, and 7 out of 9 matches ended with over 2.5 goals. In total the bettingexpert tipsters had a very high strike-rate of 58% on all over/under betting.”
