FanDuel promotes Andy Giancamilli to COO

Daily fantasy sports (DFS) operator FanDuel has announced the appointment of Andy Giancamilli as new Chief Operating Officer. Originally joining the firm in 2015, Giancamilli will continue with his role as Chief Financial Officer.

He will oversee FanDuel’s product and product operations teams in addition to overseeing financial operations, corporate financing, and company strategy.

Giancamilli said: “There is incredible momentum across the sports tech industry with new opportunities and innovations on the horizon for FanDuel. I am excited to work with Matt King again as we continue to steer the company toward the future and look to taking FanDuel to new heights.”

It was also announced that Tom Griffiths, one of the company’s original co-founders and Chief Product Officer, has left the company to pursue new challenges in the realm of AI. Griffiths played an instrumental role in developing the firm: leading the design, build, and launch of FanDuel’s award-winning website and mobile apps; overseeing innovations such as Friends Mode and NBA InPlay; and driving the customer experience to where it is today.

Griffiths said: “It has been an honor to help build and lead a world-class product development organization at FanDuel. Being a part of this industry has been an incredible journey and I am extremely proud of what we have created. I cannot wait to see what Andy, Matt, and rest of the amazingly talented team have in store.”

FanDuel CEO Matt King added: “Tom was a valued leader at FanDuel – this product would not be where it is today without him. We know Tom will be successful in all of his future endeavours and Andy is the right person to take on the opportunities that we have in front of us.”
