Racing Post 2015 Christmas Jumper Campaign raises £12,000

SBC News Racing Post 2015 Christmas Jumper Campaign raises £12,000

Daily racing news and betting publisher, Racing Post, has announced that it has raised £12,000 for the Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) via its #Jumpers4Horses 2015 Christmas jumpers campaign.

The money raised will go towards covering the costs of the RoR staging its annual programme of racecourse parades in 2016. These are vital in creating awareness of the important work the charity does, that is providing second careers to former racehorses.

RoR chief executive Di Arbuthnot said: “The parades perform a really important function for the charity. They showcase the racehorse’s versatility and adaptability and provide the bridge back to a racing audience for former stars now engaged in a career away from the track.”

There will be six parades during 2016, including the Grand National, the Cheltenham Festival, and at Newmarket’s Dubai Future Champions Festival.

There were four limited edition jumpers on offer and all sold out within two days of going on sale, with Frankie Dettori and Richard Johnson lending their support.

Johnson, an ambassador for RoR, said: “As someone who has first-hand experience of rehoming former racehorses, I know how valuable RoR’s work is.”

“Thanks to everyone who bought a Racing Post Christmas jumper this year, the 2016 RoR parades will reach their widest audience yet. That will translate into more horses being retrained and more homes found for them,” he continued.
