IGT tops CDP score on environmental controls

IGT Plc has been rewarded for augmenting its environmental contributions with a new ‘B’ score in climate change from Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).

The global environmental NPO has upgraded IGT’s score from last year to better reflect its improved environmental disclosure and performance.

The new classification recognises the ‘coordinated actions’ taken by the global lottery and gaming firm on a range of climate issues.

“Over the years IGT has made great strides to significantly increase our environmental efforts, understanding that it is our responsibility to develop action plans to reduce our carbon footprint,” said Wendy Montgomery, SVP, Marketing, Communications and Sustainability.

“IGT’s commitment to climate change extends to our customers and their sustainable operations. This assessment from CDP assures all stakeholders that we continue to advance the company through our steadfast commitment to sustainability.”

Within CDP’s assessment, IGT excelled in several categories, including governance oversight and emission reduction initiatives.

Additionally, IGT received a higher-than average score compared to other information technology and software development companies.

This latest honour follows several others awarded to the firm over the past year; last month, Moody’s ESG Solutions gave IGT an ‘advanced’ environmental, social and governance (ESG) score for its ‘strong commitments to diversity, environmental strategy, fundamental human and labour rights and health and safety’.

Meanwhile, last June, its sustainability programme was recognised with a gold medal from renowned sustainability rating agency EcoVadis.
