Gala Coral gets Thorne on its side

Gala Coral Group has announced that Fiona Thorne has joined its management team in the newly created role of Corporate Affairs Director. Thorne, former CEO of Fishburn Hedges, takes up her new role in early April. She will report to Gala Coral Group CEO Carl Leaver.

In the new role Thorne will be responsible for the development and delivery of the Group’s communication strategy including public affairs, financial PR, corporate positioning and issues management.

Commenting on the appointment, Leaver said: “It is critical for our business, and for the wider industry, that we are able to engage fully in the important debate about the role that betting and gambling has to play in our society. We are delighted to have been able to hire someone of Fiona’s experience and expertise to help us have the dialogue we need with all those who have an interest in the sector.”

Thorne commented: “The new role at Gala Coral is an exciting opportunity for me to be part of a fantastic management team running a business which is well loved by many but not without its challenges and critics.  I am very much looking forward to getting immersed in the business and working with the team to meet the business’s objectives.”
