Norsk Tipping confirms CEO exit of Åsne Havenelid

Norsk Tipping has informed national media that Åsne Havenelid has chosen to end her six-year tenure as Chief Executive of Norway’s gambling monopoly for lottery and sports betting.

A departure date has not been confirmed, as Havenelid has agreed to remain in her role until a successor is found.

The former secretary-general of Norway’s Red Cross, Havenelid took leadership of Norsk Tipping in 2016 following the departure of former incumbent Torbjørn Almlid.

Issuing a statement Norsk Tipping Chair Linda Bernander Silseth praised Havenelid ‘goal-orientated leadership’ that had delivered on all objectives helping Norway’s gambling monopoly raise funds for national civic and good causes.

“Åsne has secured and strengthened the important social mission the company has, and I want to thank on behalf of the board for the good and impressive job she has done” read Silseth statement.

Havenelid disclosed that she had no planned role to move onto, and would spend time reviewing her future options.

“It has been a privilege to lead Norsk Tipping with so many fantastically skilled and committed employees. I have learned a lot and been allowed to participate in developing the company further in a very exciting time” Havenelid commented on her departure.

In 2022, the Storting of Norway will review proposed amendments to update the Gambling Act, that seek to strengthen Norsk Tipping and Rikstoto monopolies, by providing gambling regulator Lottstift more powers to penalise unlicensed remote gambling operators.
