Updating the market, FTSE-listed gambling technology provider Playtech PLC (Playtech) has informed its investors that it has secured a three-year services agreement with Greek gambling operator OPAP.

Securing its contract under its new division Playtech BGT, the technology firm will become lead supplier of self-service betting terminals (“SSBTs”) and over-the-counter (OTC) provisions for OPAP, the Greek market’s largest gambling operator.

Playtech BGT leadership confirmed that initial roll-out of SSBTs would commence in early 2017, with the division adding OTC provisions by 2018.

Playtech governance was pleased to have secured its first major contract under its new BGT division. In November 2016, the firm announced that it unified its sports betting assets of Geneity, Mobenga, Unilogic with recently acquired Best Gaming Technology (BGT), creating a dedicated omni-channel sports arm Playtech BGT.

Dr. Armin Sageder, Chief Executive Officer of Playtech BGT Sports, said:  “The agreement with OPAP is a milestone for Playtech BGT Sports and we are proud to be supplying such an important lottery supplier with our solutions. There are multiple opportunities to further develop our relationship as OPAP looks to enhance its digital retail offering and we believe today’s agreement marks the start of a long and successful relationship.”

Commenting on this agreement OPAP Chief Executive Officer, Damian Cope said: “We are pleased to be cooperating with Playtech and we are looking forward to leveraging their in-depth expertise, as part of this new venture. The introduction of SSBTs is aligned with our strategic priority to build a world-class portfolio of products and services for OPAP. Our cooperation with Playtech will contribute to the considerable improvement of our retail sports-betting offering and the enhancement of our customers’ experience.”
