Juan Pérez Hidalgo resigns as Coljuegos President

Coljuegos has confirmed to SBCNoticias that Juan B. Pérez Hidalgo has ended his five-year tenure as President of Colombia’s national regulatory authority for gambling. 

Updating stakeholders, Coljuegos confirmed that it has secured the appointment of César Augusto Valencia as inbound President, with Pérez Hidalgo choosing to formally end his presidency effective immediately,

A South American executive of international packaging conglomerate Smurfit Kappa, Augusto Valencia is the former administrator of Barranquilla’s’ Universidad del Norte.

Augusto Valencia will be charged with leading the next phase of Colombia’s regulated online gambling marketplace, which during 2019 raised $20 million in taxes allocated to Colombia’s national health and emergency services.

A leading figurehead in South American gambling, Pérez Hidalgo did not disclose his next professional venture. 

Under Pérez Hidalgo’s leadership, Coljuegos launched Colombia’s regulated online gambling marketplace, which has recorded year-on-year growth and licensing expansions by foreign and domestic enterprises.
