Sky Bet freezes Italia property preparing for Stars transition

Sky Betting & Gaming (Sky Bet) has frozen user access and transactions to its Italian sports betting property – Sky Bet Italia (SkyBet.it), as the online gambling group prepares to merge its assets with new owner The Stars Group Inc.

Sky Bet has confirmed to SBC, that it has no plans to withdraw its brand or services from the Italian betting market, in which the UK operator has been active since November 2016.

The UK betting group, details that it is entering a period of strategic realignment for a number of its online gambling assets, as its executive team develops a new enlarged corporate strategy alongside the Stars Group governance.

Whilst Sky Bet Italia undertakes its transition, the Italian betting portal will direct its customers towards BetStars.it services. Sky Bet has ensured that all users can still log-in to Sky Bet Italia accounts and process any relevant withdrawals.

“Once Sky Betting & Gaming became part of The Stars Group, plans were made to bring together the best parts of both businesses” Sky Bet has informed SBC.

“In Italy this will be a Sky Bet sportsbook alongside PokerStars and PokerStars Casino – providing the ultimate online gaming experience to our Italian customers.”
