Lotteriinspektionen seeks to publish Swedish online gambling application forms on 10 July

Updating the market, Swedish gambling regulator Lotteriinspektionen has confirmed that it will publish its online gambling licence application forms on 10 July.

The forms will be published on the regulator’s website as soon as the Swedish government settles on the final enactment of Gambling Ordinance, a mandate which has previously been published and notified to the European Commission. The Gambling Ordinance decision is expected to take place this 5 July.

Lotteriinspektionen governance maintains its previously communicated licensing timetable, with the regulator allowing operator applications to be submitted from 1 August.

In its April 2018 update, Lotteriinspektionen confirmed that it had secured additional budgets and resources needed to process the high demand in applications the regulator anticipates from online gambling incumbents.

At present Lotteriinspektionen has highlighted the following key date:

  • July 5, the government is expected to make a decision on the Gambling Ordinance of the new gambling law. This will also include applications fees.
  • July 10, application forms will be published on the regulator’s website (unless they need to be adjusted as a result of the government’s Gambling Ordinance).
  • After July 24, the regulators own, final, regulations and general advice will be published on its website.
  • August 1, application forms can be submitted.
