GAMSTOP secures 38,000 registrations in first six months

Issuing a first public update following its April 2018 launch, industry self-exclusion scheme GAMSTOP details that it has secured 38,000 registrations during the operating period.

Developed to significantly improve UK problem-gambling prevention tools, GAMSTOP provides the ability for players to exclude themselves from UK gambling websites with just one single registration.

The GAMSTOP service is free of charge for the user and provides the option to self-exclude from online gambling activities for six months, one or five years.

The self-exclusion scheme further assists UK problem gambling support structure, providing vulnerable players with direct information to contact GamCare and the National Debtline.

The vast majority of gambling companies are fully integrated with the scheme, ensuring a meaningful service is being provided to those who need it most.

Fiona Palmer, Chief Executive of GAMSTOP, commented: “We are very pleased with the response to GAMSTOP so far as the initial uptake proves there is clearly a need for this scheme.

“We will shortly be embarking on our first phase of evaluation which will help shape future improvements and enhancements to the service going forward.”
