Stockholm-listed European online gambling group Cherry AB has announced the launch of its first polish market property, launching sportsbook PZBuk – PZBuk.pl.

In its July 2018 interim update, Cherry governance announced that it would enter the regulated Polish online gambling market having been granted an operator license by Poland’s Ministry of Finance.

Adhering to Polish gambling laws, Cherry AB has further established business entity ‘Cherry Online Polska’ in Warsaw, fulfilling requirements that incumbents must have an active operational presence within Poland.

New property PZBuk, which translates to ‘The Polish Bookmaker’ will form part of Cherry’s B2C business division Come On, established in 2017. Confirming the launch of PZBuk, Lahcene Merzoug, CEO of ComeOn said:

“Our Polish sports betting licence allows us to launch one of the first brands in the Polish gaming market. At the

PZBuk.pl site, we can offer our online services, which are in complete compliance with Polish regulations. PZBuk will be a brand that we fill with exciting and intuitively simple content and will be a good addition to the Polish market.”

‘Cherry Online Polska’ becomes the ninth operator to be licensed for the Polish market following the revamp of the nation’s ‘Gambling Law’ mandate in 2017.

Poland is considered a tough and restrictive jurisdiction for industry incumbents, as the government has attached a 12% turnover tax on wagering, leading to bookmakers William Hill, bet365 and Energybet withdrawing from the market.
