It was a good day for bettingexpert in the Tipster Challenge at Ascot, as Stephen Harris’ favourites first policy returned winners from the first 3 races and 11.25 points. Meanwhile, SBC News chipped in with victories for Lady Aurelia and Usherette to edge clear at the top of the table.
That was because Trevor Keane drew an unfortunate blank for the Guest team. The founder of Sportego, a B2B and B2C fantasy sports provider, did have one second place with Al Johrah (9/2) in the 3:05, but in truth Lady Aurelia (2/1) was in a different league to the rest of the field.
After the explosive start enjoyed by bettingexpert, the winners inevitably dried up for our experts during the second half of the day. In fact, only Timeform managed to find a winner in the final 3 races, as Persuasive (11/4) emerged successful from a field of 21 horses.

- Throughout the year we will keep record of points won each week, points won on average and points won overall for each.
- The guest tipsters will compete as one team, with their points added together as one leaderboard entry.
- The new tips will be published on Wednesday ahead of the race meet, and the results will be available on Thursday.
- For the purpose of the competition, we will assume that all selections are backed with 1 point.
- Lost tips will count as 0 and won bets will be added to the leaderboard at SP value.
- For example, if bettingexpert backs a winning horse at 8/1, they will get 8 points.
