Kindred on course to fulfilling ‘datacentre independence’ directive

SBC News Kindred on course to fulfilling 'datacentre independence' directiveUpdating stakeholders on a core corporate initiative, Stockholm-listed online gambling group Kindred Plc has announced that it is a ‘step closer’ towards launching its proprietary global datacentre solution.

For the past two-years Kindred has worked in partnership with New York-based next-generation data infrastructure specialists/developers Cockroach Labs DB, aiming to deliver ‘a single, globally geo-distributed platform based on multi‑active datacentre’ supporting its group-wide operations.

This morning, Kindred confirmed the successful ‘fist-stage’ deployment of its datacentre solution, a technology directive that governance believes will help the multi-market betting group overcome scale challenges as its services +20 million customers worldwide.

“Kindred has thanks to the collaboration with Cockroach Labs once again raised the bar on technological advancement in the gambling sector. We are very excited to see this unique solution implemented on our platform and look forward to reaping the benefits in terms of improved customer experience, resilience and efficiency”, details Marcus Smedman, Chief Technical Officer at Kindred Group.

The customised datacentre directive has been driven/led by the Stockholm group’s innovation division ‘Kindred Futures’.

Proprietary customised datacentre structures have been a common and successful practice embraced by tech giants such as Google, Netflix, Amazon and Facebook.

“We already manage on average 30 million transactions per day on our platform, which is comparable to companies such as PayPal. What we are currently building will allow us to grow faster and in a sustainable way across the world”, adds Hans Åkesson, Kindred Head of Architecture.

“We also know that other companies are looking at this setup but as far as we understand, they have not come as far as we have”
