Sky Betting & Gaming confirms 12-month placement opportunities

painter201Sky Betting and Gaming has underlined a desire to recruit top graduate talent with four 12-month opportunities confirmed as part of its University Placement Programme for 2016.

Developed in association with Sheffield Hallam and Leeds Beckett Universities, the University placement programme will see some of the region’s top undergraduate talent join Sky Betting and Gaming for a 12-month period following their second year of study.

They will gain exposure to a broad range of practical projects including end-to-end coding, testing, analysis, design and UX functions in a live commercial environment. The placements are set to commence on the 4th July and will take place in both the Betting and Gaming Tribes.

Rob Painter, Sky Betting & Gaming’s Brand and HR Director, said: “University relations is a relatively new area for us and in order to provide the right quality of opportunity, we’ve spent some time developing some really interesting programmes for both under and post-graduate students.

“We’re offering as much as we can, from tech-talks and entry level placements to advanced internships that afford invaluable leadership and mentoring experience for our technologists and ensure newly qualified people are ready for work.”

Maria Dobrzanska, Leeds Beckett University’s Employer Engagement Consultant, said: “I cannot stress how highly we value the support of local organisations in helping us to prepare our students as fully as possible for the transition between full-time education and professional life.

“Professional placements and opportunities to work on live projects are immensely beneficial to our students in terms of developing their skills, their confidence in the workplace and their ability to apply their knowledge within a business environment.”

Jenny Cole, Sheffield Hallam’s Employer Partnerships Manager, added: “Our students do work to agile methodologies within the academic environment, but to see all the different parts of a technology business in action and have the opportunity to code in more experienced teams where their projects can be live in as little as two weeks, is very exciting.”
