German industry trade body Der Deutsche Sportwettenverband (DSWV) has expanded its membership, welcoming FTSE250 Playtech Plc and Stockholm-listed Kindred Group to its ranks.

Updating stakeholders, DSWV governance details that as a trade body it now represents over 90% of the active German sports betting market.

DSWV increases its representation of sports betting technology provisions, with Playtech group as a new recruit. The FTSE enterprise services a number of German retail-based bookmakers through its Playtech BGT division.

Joining DSWV, Dr Peter Reinhardt, Managing Director of PBS Germany Operations, stated that membership would help the technology group ‘push for effective regulations’, within Europe’s largest capacity market.

Anne-Jaap Snijders, General Manager for Kindred Group DACH Regions, backed the DSWV support, stating the membership would help the Stockholm enterprise become a ‘constructive voice’for sports betting regulation and responsibilities within Germany.

DSWV President Mathias Dahm welcomed Playtech and Kindred as new members, as the trade body urges the German government to implement an effective reform of the nation’s sports betting laws.

“As a representative of all relevant sports betting companies in Germany, the DSWV will continue to work towards effective  German sports betting regulatory framework, which establishes legal security for consumers and providers and allows the authorities to effectively enforce illegal black market offers.

The DSWV members will continue to bring their decade-long market expertise constructively into the political process in order to finally bring German sports betting regulation to fruition.”
