Ronan Ryan, the President of The Investor Exchange (IEX) and Harry Enten, Senior Political Writer for FiveThirtyEight, have been confirmed as speakers for this year’s Matchbook Traders Conference, which takes place on Wednesday 1 November.
Enten and Ryan have joined a list of speakers at 155 Bishopsgate that already includes Harry Findlay, the legendary gambler who has won over £20 million through betting, and Douglas McWilliams, one of Europe’s foremost economic forecasters.
IEX is a startup stock exchange dedicated to investor protection, while Ryan himself is a leading expert on trading technology and infrastructure. No media will be permitted, as he discusses the world of high frequency trading, the technology that is powering the financial world today and potential challenges in the future.
Speaking in the Main Hall, Ryan will also use the session, titled ‘Flash boy: Meet the man trying to revolutionise financial trading‘, to look at parallels between the exchange betting sector, sports trading and the technology revolution that has taken place in recent years.
Meanwhile, Harry Enten is one of a new generation of analysts revolutionising the way the world thinks about politics. He will talk specifically about what we can take from the 2016 election betting markets – particularly the US Presidential Election and Brexit – and how to apply this knowledge to profit from upcoming elections both in the UK and the US.
Closing the day, ‘The future of political betting’ will also cover Enten’s approach to analysing political markets and his use of both current and historical data to arrive at conclusions.
The Matchbook Traders Conference, named in the Top 10 Global Gaming Conferences by Calvin Ayre, has been designed to unite the most influential people in betting, with more than 600 industry professionals expected to be in attendance.
